Denim Fades: Momotaro x Blue Owl "Midnight Warrior" (1 Year, 1 Wash)

Today we're featuring our first Momotaro collaboration, the 15.7oz "Midnight Warrior," worn by Blue Owl's very own, Kevin.

Kevin has worn these jeans for a little over a year now and just recently gave them their first wash. As you can see, the denim has developed a number of extremely impressive fades throughout both the front and back sides. The wallet and roping fades are particularly cool. Check out the results!

It's the details that count! Check out the coin fade in the front pocket.

The back pocket fades are the product of two different wallets over time.

If you'd like us to feature your denim on the Blue Owl blog, send us some information, along with photos to sales@blueowl.us. As always, keep an eye on the blog for more features in the future!

Naked & Famous Fall/Winter 2013 Preview Part 3: Big John x Rockin' Jelly Bean Collaboration

The third and final part of our Naked & Famous fall/winter 2013 preview highlights one of the most ambitious pieces from the lineup, the Naked & Famous x Big John x Rockin' Jelly Bean triple collaboration. Alongside their trademark creativity and craftsmanship, Naked & Famous enlisted the help of the legendary Big Johns Jeans brand, as well as the art from the Japanese cult artists, Rockin' Jelly Bean.

Big Johns Jeans was founded in the 1940's, holding the title of the first ever Japanese denim brand. After initially manufacturing uniforms, the brand moved to producing denim in the United States, before they eventually moved their production back to Japan and have been producing there ever since. The artist, Rockin' Jelly Bean, has developed a cult following in the Japanese art scene thanks to his distinctive art style and content, both of which he demonstrates in his original artwork commissioned for the patch.

The 100% cotton jeans come in the Naked & Famous Superskinny Guy fit, made in Japan with entirely Japanese materials. The denim comes in a vintage "old world blue" and weighs in at a respectable 14oz weight. We are excited to be carrying these in the very near future, until then, keep your eyes on the store.

Introducing Eternal

Blue Owl Workshop is proud to introduce Eternal as the newest label added to our growing collection of brands! Despite being an elusive label to the American consumer, Eternal has built up a reputation as one of the Japanese denim mainstays since their inception in 1997, thanks to their top of the line construction and materials.

Made entirely in Japan, the denim comes in a 14.5oz weight, complete with the traditional 5 pocket design, button fly, deerskin patch and made from indigo warp yarns that have been dyed over 30 times to give the denim a deep indigo color that will fade to a vibrant electric blue.

Blue Owl will be carrying the 811 (mid-rise, tapered leg) and 883 (low rise, slim fit) models come (MONTH?). Keep your eyes on the store for more details.

Corter Leather Belt After 4 Years

Last week we posted the remarkable coloring results our customer, Joseph, had with his Tanner Goods wallet, and today we're showing off the equally impressive results from his Corter Leather Belt. The belt is Corter's natural vegetable tanned belt, made of 100% cowhide leather. Outside of two applications of Neatsfoot Oil, the coloring is entirely the result of daily wear and age.

Corter Leather uses 100% cowhide leather made in the USA. The belts come in three different color options. $55. For more information on the Corter Leather belt in natural, like the one used in this post, click here.

Tanner Goods Wallet After 3 Years

One of the coolest things about the Tanner Goods 3.5oz vegetable tanned leather wallets we've been carrying here at BlueOwl is that over time, the leather ages and takes on a whole new color than before, much like how denim fades with use.

When we received these photos from our customer, Joseph, who's had his wallet for a little over 3 years now, we were stunned. Not only had the wallet aged to a beautiful deep brown outside with a golden tan inset, but the wallet was still in seemingly perfect condition, a testament to the famous quality of Tanner Goods. Outside of one application of Neatsfoot Oil, the coloring is due entirely to natural usage and wear. Check out the photos and see for yourself.
